O’Brien Construction is a Construction Manager & General Contractor with a 55 year history of stable, profitable and safe work in the Metro Detroit area. Primary areas of expertise include multi-family, historical renovations, commercial, senior living, non-profit, and the occasional institutional project

The Position
As the Company continues to experience steady and exciting growth, it is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its evolving team. The position requires top notch problem solving skills, consistent verbal and written communication skills, understanding of engineering principles, and a willingness to work hard to keep the project on track.  This individual will be responsible for establishing scopes of work, schedules, and budgets for new projects from inception thru the development of detailed plans and specifications.  The position requires relationship management of qualified prospects in addition to assembling and directing the project team. The Estimator works collaboratively with the entire team, including the Superintendents, Project Managers, Project Engineers and finance/admin staff.
 
Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred, but not required
  • Experience in an Estimator role strongly preferred
  • Willingness to put in the time and effort required to be successful in construction
  • Passion and energy for construction
  • Attention to Detail 
  • Effective problem solving and time management abilities
