Senior Estimator and Project Manager

The Position
The Company has had success utilizing the model of combined Estimators/Project Managers and this role will continue that model. The Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of assigned projects, which includes, but is not limited to: review of bid opportunities via ODOT’s letting schedule and information, identify target projects, prepare estimates and budgets, and then ultimately manage projects through completion and final close out.  The Estimator/PM role has a direct influence on the results of projects and the overall success of the Company.

Primary responsibilities including the following
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date knowledge of all projects and bid-lettings that the Company should target
  • Review the pre-letting requirements and information, working with management team to ensure relevance and profit potential
  • Review plans and specs, complete accurate take-offs, solicit subcontractor pricing and assemble complete estimates and budgets
  • Ensure company compliance with bid-letting and RFQ processes to maximize opportunities to gain new business
  • Interface directly with State, and local DOT and other government personnel to assist the Company’s efforts to increase revenue and profitability
  • Develop and enhance the Company’s relationships with sub-contractors and suppliers to facilitate strategic partnerships
  • Complete financial and schedule management for all projects being personally managed
  • All other duties as assigned

Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities
  • Five years of construction management experience, with at least two years in estimating, ideally in the paving industry
    • Please note that the Company is open to considering candidates on all ends of the experience spectrum from entry-level to senior-level candidates.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
  • Ability to strategize and multi-task
  • Knowledge of Budgeting, Profit and Loss statements, and how projects (and companies) ultimately make a profit
  • Ability to travel within the state and possibly to surrounding states, typically daily travel with minimal (less than 10%) oversight travel
