The Position
The Company is adding a Superintendent to their team based on consistent backlog and growth. This position is primarily responsible for directing field work during all phases of the construction project (pre-con, active and post construction). The opportunity allows this individual to work on a variety of projects ALL within the Greater Ann Arbor area.
 
Other Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee project organization, scheduling and implementation.
  • Visit vacant site for preconstruction checklist and complete preconstruction checklist for Construction Manager review.
  • Assist Foreman with takeoffs and order self-perform building materials (specialist items).
  • Performs daily site inspections to inspect vendor work and quality.
  • Makes routine visits to job sites and photo document activities.
  • Assists with vendor layout/ planning.
  • Request work orders for construction labor & cleanups.
  • Perform client walk thru for punch lists.
  • Monitor onsite safety of vendors & in-house workers.
  • Support Project Coordinator with the sending of project updates/communications to construction team.
  • Creating field RFI’s for self-performed work and subcontractors.
  • Provides support of activities of employees engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents.
  • Training employees; planning; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; regarding and disciplining employees and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
 
Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Bachelor’s degree in architecture or construction science/construction management
  2. Minimum of five years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Ability to proficiently use various Microsoft Office applications. Experience with Procore software a plus.
  4. Extremely developed and proven project management skills – demonstrated ability to follow up and complete projects ahead of schedule and on budget.
  5. Strong budgeting skills are necessary.
  6. Ability to read, evaluate and understand construction drawings and specifications.
  7. Excellent time management, problem solving/analysis, and leadership skills.
