O’Brien Construction is a General Contractor with a 55 year history of stable, profitable and safe work in the Metro Detroit area. Primary areas of expertise include commercial, senior living, low income and multi-family residential, institutional (schools and fire stations), historical renovations, and non-profit projects.

The Position
The Company is looking to add an Assistant Controller to its team. The position with be responsible for all accounting and administrative duties necessary to issue timely and complete financial statements and tax returns, among other things. This includes, but is not limited to, reconciling the general ledger, budgeting, forecasting financial data, and maintaining the accounting systems.  This position will work directly with the CFO and will have to be proficient with GAAP and be able to create, understand and analyze financial statements.

Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a related field preferred
  • Strong GAAP experience
  • At least 2-4 years of experience in accounting
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships
  • Attention to detail and processes
  • Deadline driven
