O’Brien Construction is a General Contractor with a 55 year history of stable, profitable and safe work in the Metro Detroit area. Primary areas of expertise include commercial, senior living, low income and multi-family residential, institutional (schools and fire stations), historical renovations, and non-profit projects.

The Position
The Contract Administrator requires top notch problem solving skills, consistent verbal and written communication, understanding of engineering principles, and a willingness to work hard to keep the project on track. Duties include, but are not limited to, identifying and reporting potential financial risks and contractual pitfalls, assisting with planning of procurement documents, pre-bid/proposal meetings and monitoring all aspects of contract compliance. The position requires relationship management of qualified prospects in addition to assembling and directing the project team.

Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships
  • Ability to see the big picture, but remain detail-oriented
  • Willingness to put in the time and effort required to be successful in construction
  • Desire to learn and grow within the field
