The Field Equipment Specialist Position
To support the growth of the Department, the Company is adding a Field Equipment Specialist to the team. Responsibilities for this role are varied, with a significant focus on consulting directly with the field personnel on equipment needs and proper equipment utilization. This role will work closely with the field teams and Equipment Manager to review and develop a complete understanding of construction means and methods, which in turn will help support purchase and rental decisions, select properly sized equipment, use of attachments, and to strategically build the Company’s fleet with the most appropriate equipment. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and following up on the delivery and use of rental equipment in the field, negotiating and maintaining rental contract requirements, and keeping track of utilization/equipment costs. This position also analyzes data from various sources, including equipment meters and monitoring devices to help inform the Company’s equipment strategy and decisions.
This position requires a significant amount of time spent in the field, traveling to various jobsites throughout Southeast Michigan, as well as some time in the office headquarters in Walled Lake

- In-depth knowledge of construction-related equipment including excavators, loaders, dozers, and attachments, and their common applications/uses
- Basic knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and other technical knowledge related to heavy equipment
- At least 5 years of experience in the construction industry
- Experience working with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is a plus!
- Understanding of equipment repairs/maintenance, utilization, and logistics.
