About the Position
Working under the general guidance and direction of the Township Supervisor, the Supervisor’s Assistant is responsible for performing the majority of administrative tasks within the Supervisor’s office. Additionally, this role administers all Planning and Board of Appeals functions, and coordinates human resources services for the Township. With a very diverse set of job responsibilities, this position is critical to supporting the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the operations of Springfield Township.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: documenting and following consistent processes for all operations; maintaining the Department schedules; compiling and distributing various reports; composing memos, letters and other correspondence; receiving and responding to inquiries and complaints; maintaining all HR records and files; administering the Township’s benefit programs; acting as the primary administrator for all planning functions and site plan activity within the Township; maintaining and tracking all site plan applications and interfacing with developers, consultants and other stakeholders; and generally being a well-rounded team player that supports the Township in all necessary areas.
The Supervisor’s Assistant position requires a high level of trust and integrity.
Required Education, Certifications, Skills and Abilities
Candidates should have at least four (4) years’ experience and/or training in business administration, public administration, human resources, customer service, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; high school or equivalent is required. Candidates must be proficient with computer and software systems, as well as the entire M/S Office suite. Verbal and written communication skills are also foundational requirements for this role.
Strong preference will be given to Springfield Township residents with demonstrated community involvement and knowledge.
Compensation, Benefits and Structure
The Supervisor’s Assistant and Planning Administrator position is a salaried, exempt position that reports to the Township Supervisor. The starting salary range is from $44,500 to $49,500, depending on skills, abilities, experience, education and training. Springfield Township offers a complete insurance package including medical, dental, vision, life, 401K plan, vacation and personal/sick time, paid holidays, and the opportunity to truly make a difference on a daily basis. The standard work schedule is 35 hours per week, though workload demands do require additional hours on occasion.
The Township has not budgeted for relocation expense and candidates should not have an expectation of receiving any relocation support or reimbursement.
