The Springfield Township Parks and Recreation Department oversees approximately 650 acres which includes seven ball fields, three pavilions and a community center. The Department consists of the Director, Park Maintenance Superintendent, Park Maintenance, Building Custodian, two Recreation Coordinators, and Gate Attendant. The employee in this position is to perform repairs, maintenance and improvements throughout the parks system. Additional assistance and other duties may be assigned by the Park Maintenance Superintendent and Director of Parks and Recreation consistent with the needs of the Department as a whole.
Required Education and Experience:
High school education or equivalent. A minimum of two years of experience in grounds and building maintenance, preferably in a Parks and Recreation setting and/or education in an applicable field. Ability to operate machinery such as weed whips, tractors, chain saws, hand tools, etc. Ability to learn and use specialized machinery. Knowledge of stewardship practices and a pesticide license preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license, preferrable to have a chauffeur license or ability to obtain
