The Company
Growth and establishment are two attributes of a Brighton-based law firm that specializes in estate planning, business and corporate, real estate law, and related litigation. The firm is actively involved with Livingston County civic, community and business organizations and has a presence with area Chambers of Commerce, networking, and philanthropic organizations.  The firm has three attorneys that serve predominately Michigan-based clients and wants to make an investment in a first or second year law student for their next hire.
The Position
The new team member will serve as the firm’s Legal Assistant and will grow with the firm as this new hire continues through law school, passes the Michigan Bar Exam, and beyond.  No two days will be the same.
The Legal Assistant will conduct legal research, review documents, prepare legal filings, and travel to local courthouses and administrative agencies. In addition, the legal Assistant will perform a variety of administrative functions to aid them in learning the non-legal side of running a law practice.  Serving the needs of four attorneys, the Legal Assistant will need to be able to take direction from multiple people and be adept at managing time and priorities.
The position offers a unique opportunity to be involved in the local Livingston County community through business development and volunteerism.  Our new hire will have a vested interest in working in Livingston County for many years to come.

Compensation and Schedule
The Legal Assistant position has a starting pay rate of $18.00 per hour and will work no more than 20 hours per week.  Ideally, the schedule will consist of two full days of work and one-half day, Monday through Friday during business hours of 8am – 5pm.
