The Controller Position:
Due to the promotion of the current Controller, Christman is seeking a Controller for the Lansing, MI office. The Controller will communicate and collaborate with the Company’s project management and business development teams, senior leadership, and owners/clients to ensure that the Company’s financial operations are running efficiently.


The Controller is responsible for leading, directing, and coordinating all accounting functions, including duties from the general ledger to financial statement preparation for multiple entities. Other responsibilities include journal entries, reconciliations, and budgets The Controller leads staff on all financial-related audits as needed and assists the CFO with subcontractor financial evaluation and risk mitigation.

Preferred Experience, Skills & Abilities of the Controller Position:
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting
  • 4 years of experience managing direct reports within an Accounting Department and the accounting and finance process
  • 3 years of experience working as a Controller, preferably in the construction industry
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is strongly preferred
  • Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation is strongly preferred

The position is based in the Lansing, MI office with travel around the State to various offices as required. The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
