The General Manager Position Uptown Coffeehouse is looking for a General Manager to oversee all coffeehouse operations, including all administrative functions, such as inventory, ordering, scheduling, budgeting, accounting, etc. The General Manager will handle employee management throughout the company, including the hiring, training, and coaching of staff members to deliver extraordinary customer service and products in a positive work environment. This position offers a unique opportunity to not only be involved in the day-to-day operations at Uptown Coffeehouse, but to lead a staff in ushering in a new wave of creative ideas to help move the business forward. Creating connections with customers, the coffeehouse crew, vendors, businesses, and other community partners to build strong community goodwill.
Overseeing the maintenance and cleanliness of the coffeehouse and meeting all food service regulatory requirements.
Establishing sales goals and developing/executing plans to achieve said sales goals.
Engaging with the community by participating in local events and organizations.
Developing, improving, and implementing coffeehouse procedures and policies.
Desired Experience, Skills, and Abilities for the General Manager Position
At least 5 years of management experience in the Food & Beverage industry is required.
Strong leadership and motivational skills, while being comfortable allocating tasks and following-up with staff regarding completion of assigned tasks/responsibilities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills that foster collaboration, teamwork, and thorough completion of tasks/responsibilities.
Strong organizational and time-management skills to make the vision a reality.
Proficiency with technology, and the curiosity to learn new technology to enhance the business. Software experience in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and social media is preferred.
Compensation, Benefits, & Structure for the General Manager Position This is a full-time, permanent position (averaging 40 hours per week) that offers a competitive salary based on skills and experience, quarterly bonus potential based on company success, a monthly health insurance stipend, paid time off, discounts on products, growth potential within the company, and a fast-paced, upbeat environment. The General Manager reports to the Founder/Owner of Uptown Coffeehouse. The position requires open availability, as the General Manager’s schedule will fluctuate with the needs of the business. The General Manager will also work a combination of administrative time and customer service time (Barista/Cashier) each week.
