The Controller Position As the top Accounting & Finance-related position within the organization, the Controller leads the firm’s finance and accounting department. The Controller reports directly to the WTO’s Executive Director and works closely with the management team, in addition to the partners. The goal of this position is to help drive the firm forward into the future, taking us to the next level in the way we use data and financial information to help inform our strategy.
The Controller role includes a mixture of hands-on, day-to-day duties and high-level strategic responsibilities. In addition, the position manages a team that includes accounts payable, billing, and administration and supports the development of financial understanding across the team through individual and group training. The Controller supports the law firm's long-term development, including building a structure to support WTO's continuous growth. This includes analyzing the fee structure and performance by client and case to drive intelligent fee structure changes.
With firm growth and employee development, the Controller role at WTO has the potential to transition into a CFO role in the future.
Experience, Skills & Abilities of the Controller:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
At least 10 years of Controller, or similar level, experience
Demonstrated cash accounting and tax knowledge
Experience in a law firm or other professional services organization is preferred
Compensation, Benefits for the Controller Position The Controller is full-time and permanent with a competitive base salary of $150,000-$200,000, comprehensive benefits package, annual bonus program, and the opportunity for occasional remote work.
