Green Oak Charter Township is hiring a Treasury Assistant to manage with general office tasks along with accounting responsibilities. This position will concentrate on answering phones, greeting visitors and guests, processing payments, recording transactions, and scheduling for the Township. While this position reports directly to the elected Treasurer, it will also be important to have a general knowledge of the department activities and to assist where needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Answering the phone and addressing routine inquiries in order to refer residents to the appropriate department.
Accounting responsibilities including collecting funds, making change, issuing receipts and balancing and preparing deposits and statements.
Handling dog licenses for the Township, which will include working with the county to implement, track and report dog licenses purchased, and also provide residents with local veterinarians and information regarding rabies vaccinations.
Handling sewer and water utility billing production, which will include billing, account changes and working with outside sources to provide the information necessary for the collection of utility operations funds.
Coordinating information for title and mortgage companies of special assessment information.
Help other departments as needed and other tasks as requested.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education requirements include a high school diploma/GED equivalent
2+ years of customer service, office support and basic accounting experience
Strong attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Microsoft Office products and Adobe software knowledge
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time position with a competitive pay rate based on skills and experience. The compensation package includes health benefits, paid time off, and pension plan. Please note that Green Oak Charter Township currently pays for 100% of the premium costs for employees and eligible dependents for medical, dental, and vision.
