Great Lakes Bay Health Centers (GLBHC) is a community health center umbrella made up of 32 locations throughout the Great Lakes Bay region and beyond. Most locations are set up to serve medically underserved populations, but our doors are open to anyone regardless of insurance or lack of insurance. The Chief Medical Officer Position
In addition to clinical duties as Staff Physician, the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) assists in the responsibility for the overall quality of all services provided by Great Lakes Bay Health Centers in conjunction with the Chief Health Services Officer (CHSO).

The CMO is responsible for specific areas of the quality of health care, clinical and administrative policies or procedures and supervision of other employees and medical providers. The CMO, in conjunction with the Medical Director and under the control of the Chief Health Services Officer oversees performance of clinical duties, quality assurance, peer review, and any other staff activity impacting on the quality of care delivered at any GLBHC site. Duties also include active involvement in medical provider recruitment and planning activities.

Preferred Experience, Skills & Abilities of the Chief Medical Officer:
  • MD or DO from an accredited Medical School
  • Licensure: Must be licensed by the State Board of Medicine or State Board of Osteopathic Medicine and surgery in Michigan. Must possess a valid DEA license. Board Eligible, Board Certified preferred. Must possess an up-to-date BLS Certificate.
  • Five (5) years community health center experience or similar setting as provider preferred.

Compensation, Benefits & Structure of the Chief Medical Officer:
This position includes a competitive salary structure, based on skills and experience, and a comprehensive benefit and retirement package. The position is based in our Saginaw, MI office, with travel around the State to various GLBHC offices and key stakeholders as required.

The Recruitment Process for the Chief Medical Officer:
The recruitment process will include two preliminary phone screens, two web-based (or in-person) interviews, a candidate personality assessment, and a pre-employment background check and drug test.
