The Assistant Project Manager Position
The Assistant Project Manager position will be assigned to a large, high-profile project in Holland, MI and will report directly to the Project Manager and Superintendent. The APM has the opportunity to be involved in a hands-on way with a project that will have a huge impact on western Michigan, as well as be one of the larger projects Midwest Steel has completed.

This position is responsible for a wide range of duties including ordering and securing materials and deliveries, tracking quantities, quality control, preparing and sending submittals, handling critical communications, and helping the Project Managers and Superintendents in all areas where support is needed. The Assistant Project Manager needs to understand engineering principles, be capable of problem solving efficiently, provide consistent communication, and have the drive to work hard to keep the project on track.

Please note that the APM will be assigned to the Holland project for one year or more. This requires someone who can be onsite every day. This specific position does not support a remote work or work-from-home arrangement. The ideal candidate is someone that enjoys being in a construction environment and is willing to travel as they develop their career.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Abilities of the Assistant Project Manager
  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a related field is preferred; comparable experience will be considered
  • Some construction experience is required
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of Procore and other construction and/or engineering software programs is a bonus


Compensation, Benefits, and Structure for the Assistant Project Manager
This position is full-time and based in Holland for 12 months or more. After the project is complete, the APM will have opportunities to travel to other MWS projects.
